Hundreds of vintage, classic, road and race bikes are expected to head for Bendigo over the October 3-4 weekend this year to attend the first major Motorcycle Expo ever held in Central Victoria.

Sponsored by Shannons, the 2009 Bendigo Motorcycle Expo will take place at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds Exhibition Building and is hoped to become an annual event, with up to 10,000 people attending this year.

It is anticipated that the event will feature all the major manufacturers of on and off-road motorcycles, including Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, Suzuki, and Triumph, with many scooter distributors also taking part.

Customised, drag and race bikes will be other popular exhibits.

Motorcycle accessories manufacturers and distributors will also be out in force with trade stalls showcasing products from helmets and riding-wear to parts, accessories and bike trailers to airbrush artwork.

The Expo will also encourage responsible riding in Central Victoria, with various safe-riding initiatives designed to promote Bendigo as ‘rider friendly’.

Shannons will be very visible at the Expo following the recent establishment of a Shannons Regional Development Officer based in Bendigo as part of the company's policy of having like-minded enthusiasts on the ground in many major regional cities.
