Citroen has released the first images of its upcoming new C4. These are simply teaser pics at this stage but they do show that this is very much a Citroen. The latter statement may sound silly to anyone not interested in cars (poor souls!), but the very French marque is renowned for its ground-breaking shapes.
The most important new model for the 2010 automotive season, the Citroen C4 has the latest frontal theme based on the company's intermeshed-gears logo.
When viewed from the side, the new C4 displays not one, not two, but three style lines. Of particular interest is the lower line that curves up then backwards. Also worthy of a mention is the line that begins just behind the front door handle, runs through the back door handle, and then splits the taillight.
The new Citroen C4 won't be shown publicly until the Paris motor on September 30th. But expect a flurry of publicity before then - this is an exceptionally important model for the iconic French marque and it will be pushing for as much publicity as it can generate.
Only a five-door hatch has been revealed, but Citroen has built three-door variants of the C4 in the past, and these have been even more over-the-top in their style than the five-doors.
Mechanical details are sketchy at this stage, but Citroen does say the all-new C4 will have, among a selection of other engines, a special low emission turbo-diesel unit that will enable C02 emissions to be as low as 99 grams per kilometre.
The new Citroen C4 will go on sale in Australia midway through 2011.
