Storms At Phillip Island Classic

The weather may have been wild but the rain could not dampen spirits at last weekend’s Phillip Island Classic Motorsport Festival, sponsored by VACC.

A record field braved the elements to take part in what has become the largest historic race meeting in the Southern Hemisphere.

The rain did its best to spoil the three-day event but the race-drivers, car owners and visitors would not be deterred from enjoying the occasion.

“This year’s Phillip Island Classic Motorsport Festival could easily have been a washout, but such was the determination of organisers, drivers and the crowd, that the show went ahead,” said VACC General Manager, Communications and Marketing, Tim O’Brien.

“In fact, the treacherous conditions only enhanced the experience. To see the drivers handling their cars at speed in the wet was something to behold.

“It was also great to see a huge number of Historic Racing fans defy the elements."
